WILDERNESS CAMP
Camp Values and Rules

FOUNDATION PRINCIPLES

-
Purpose: God created us to come to know and love Him and His Son, and to live a life that demonstrates that relationship (1 Peter 2:9-10; John 17:3).
-
Priority: While we are young, we need to remember our Creator and seek Him sincerely (Psalm 119:9-11; Ecclesiastes 12).
-
Education: We need to take God’s word into our hearts and minds every day (1 Timothy 4:12-16; 2 Timothy 2:15).
-
Application: Our relationship with the Father and the Son should transform the way we live, affecting our personal dedication to them and the way we treat others (1John 3:1-2; 4:7-11).

CAMP VALUES
These values have been designed to create an environment in which everyone is able to enjoy the camp and benefit from its Objectives. It is therefore expected that these values will be upheld at all times.

1. Preparation
a) Wilderness Camp is about personal Bible study. One of the primary benefits comes from the deep immersion of all attendees in God’s word before the camp. To that end, preparation is vital to receive spiritual value from the camp.
b) The Committee will endeavour to support attendees to complete the study preparation and provide tools and resources to that end. Anyone facing difficulty completing the preparation is encouraged to contact a member of the Committee as early as possible.

2. Worship
a) Prayers should be both respectful and heart-felt in their tone and language, as we are approaching the Almighty King of all creation, who is also our loving Heavenly Father.
b) We believe Godly and unifying hymns and songs are the best form of worship, with words and sentiments derived from Scripture. The Christadelphian Hymn Book (2002) is used throughout the Brotherhood worldwide and is rich in its Scriptural origins, and will be used for all hymns and songs at the camp except in circumstances approved by the Committee and Senior Brethren.
3. Behaviour
a) As children of God, our behaviour is to be reflective of our Father’s principles and worthy of our calling.
b) Our standard for life is the Commandments of Christ, and we will try as a camp to uphold them together.
4. Dress
a) Clothing is to be modest at all times, as befits young people striving for Godliness. All requests from Hosts are to be respected.
b) To honour the conscience of all attendees, we request skirts or dresses for girls for all activities except swimming or those specified by the Committee.
c) Formal attire is required for the Memorial Meeting. Presenters, chairmen and readers for all meetings are also requested to dress formally.
d) Head coverings are considered Scriptural for sisters during all studies and worship sessions.

CAMP RULES
1. Conditions of Attendance
a) All attendees must consent to abide by the Camp Values and Rules in order to attend.
b) Young people must be 16 years old.

2. Timeliness
a) As a general rule, no day visitors are permitted. Please discuss with the Committee or Hosts any special circumstances.
b) In order to facilitate smooth running of the camp for everyone’s benefit, all study sessions and activities should be attended and on time.

3. Technology & Entertainment
a) Personal devices can distract our attention or detract from the atmosphere of the camp. Their use during the camp should therefore be kept to a minimum and preferably only in public places.
b) No music or musical instruments except those requested by the Committee are to be brought to the camp.

4. Venue & Accommodation
a) Any special accommodation requests may be discussed with the Committee or Hosts.
b) There is to be no swapping of accommodation arrangements without consent of the Hosts.
c) Males are not allowed in the female accommodation areas, nor vice versa.
d) Attendees must remain within the precincts of the camp venue except when permission to leave has been granted by one of the Hosts.
5. Miscellaneous
a) No recreational drugs, alcohol or cigarettes are to be brought to or used at the camp.
